3RW arkitekter was in Burkina Faso in July to take part in the final touch-ups on the elementary school of the Sabou village. Construction finishes include the decoration of the peripheral walls with a variety of different patterns, each of them holding a symbolic meaning for local inhabitants. A pink tone softens the circular, courtyard space, while ceramic tiles cover the office, toilet, classrooms and open space floors. Three young trees were also planted in the central yard, around the location of the school’s future water pump. After completion, the building will host up to 120 students under its paper fold-like metallic roof.
