In collaboration with Dronninga Landskap, 3RW has delivered its architectural and planning assignment for Vikeså, a small town which is the administrative centre of the municipality of Bjerkreim, in Rogaland County. The bulk of our study focused on the future development of Vikeså’s centre, and we provided an overall infrastructural assessment. Ideas for alternative urban measures were brought forward and visualized. 3D-models illustrations and diagrams make for an inclusive, yet detailed document. See the images below.
Vikeså is strategically located on the E39, with a short driving distance from Egersund, Sandnes and Ålgård; it is thus a hub for crossing between local and regional traffic. The town’s identity is linked to spectacular mountainous nature, small-scale agriculture and local food cultures, as well as an activity-oriented lifestyle, with multiple spaces for dynamic outdoor life, wind power production or seasonal cabin life. Through our comprehensive analyses, we shed light on which services and activities should be strengthened, which services and activities may be perceived as being in rupture with the true spirit of the place, and which services and activities should be added to the existing ones.
Similar studies (previously completed) include our works for Hjelle, Innvik-Utvik, and Randaberg.
