Site works at Furuset are taking place at at fast pace! Here is a selection of snowy photographs from our latest visit to the north of Oslo, where the future Furuset nursing home will soon be standing. Key elements of the design, such as courtyards, stepped volumes and pitched roofs, are visible in both background and foreground.
This project for a “demenslandsby” (village for individuals living with dementia), an experimental housing and treatment centre, is jointly designed by 3RW and NORD architects from Copenhagen. The building presents a fragmented cluster-like figure, and, importantly, features a series of small, anti-medical environments which can act as direct modifiers of residents’ capabilities and sense of identity. For elderly people who experience cognitive impairments, architecture can strongly affect feelings of comfort and of the self – we are thus working with care and energy towards the realization of quality interior and exterior spaces.
