We are happy to report that our office was selected to complete a study for the development of a new medical headquarter in Southern Larvik. The aim is to orient the architecture and organization of the city’s existing headquarter toward future needs. This challenging assignment includes the regulation of areas of the site, as well as a concept for the revitalization of old architectural infrastructure, and construction of newer volumes. Notions of flexibility, multi-purpose usage and performance are put forward and emphasized; sustainability, both green and social, will also be an integral part of our design approach to the project. The development plan centers around the creation of a new generous emergency room and 64 additional nursing home rooms.
In the past decade, 3RW has strengthened its experience in the development of innovative public institutions, engaging in many collaborations with health-related users, employees and decision makers. See the buildings at Randaberg, Furuset or Lyngdal, or our research for Olsrød or DOGA, for such examples. This is the office’s second successful collaboration with Larvik this year, after the recent completion of a large-scale masterplan for the municipality.
